The following pictures are Local 776 members who are working on
the Aphla Plastics plant. The owner who was from Germany was looking
for a contractor to work with that could help with not only the
installation but also engineering and design. It looked like the
project might go to a non-union, out of town mechanical contractor,
however with the help of Sam Halker of Smith-Boughan, Allen County
Visionaries, and Local 776 the project was awarded union. The
Scope of the project was huge with a timeline of only eight weeks
for completion. There was over 4000' of pipe all sizes with 3000
welds to be made, the only engineering was a single flowchart.
As Business Manager I would like to thank all those pictured for
their help in bring this project on time and within budget. The
member of Local 776 were extremely productive and very professional.
I believe that this type of success will turn into future work
for Local 776 as the owner is discussing a large expansion in
the near future.
